I’m a photographer in New York City moved by the human condition.
And although an avid photographer of urban landscapes that you can see here, there is something about the face of humanity that I find most compelling.
As a portrait photographer, I strive to make a special connection with my subjects in order that we can craft an artistic and dramatic black and white portrait.
But as documentarian, I am moved to use photography as a voice for those whose own voices are silent, or largely unheard.

One example is my series of street portraits where I find interesting faces, unaware of the camera, or themselves.  They’re lost in thought, engaged with a friend or with the city itself.
The other is my series of iPhone photographs of Subway People, a revealing look at people involved in one of the most dreaded New York City activities, their daily commute.

I hope you enjoy my take on humanity and come back often.
Enjoy, Bob Estremera
